The Ministry of Education Arts and Culture released the 2024 National Examination results for the National Senior Secondary Certificate Ordinary (NSSCO), and Namibia Senior Secondary Certificate Advanced Subsidiary (NSSCAS). The announcement was made yesterday by the Hon.Minister, Ester Anna Nghipondoka.
During the 2024 academic year, a total of forty thousand, seven hundred and fifty-seven (40 757) full time candidates registered for the National Examination at Ordinary Level, whilst twelve thousand and thirty-one (12 031) qualified for AS level in 2024. both results have increased remarkably, noting a 4.3% improvement in AS, whilst 89% of all candidates entries were graded.
Rukonga Vision School in the Kavango East dominates the top 20 performers list (NSCCO level), standing out with five of the top 20 candidates. Notable success across regions such as Kavango West, Oshikoto and Omusati underscores the widespread excellence within the education system.
Meanwhile, Omusati emerged as the leading region, securing 8 best performers of the top 20 candidates including the top 2, followed by Khomas with 5 candidates, Kavango East with 4, Oshikoto 2, and Oshana 1 candidate respectively.
At this same occasion, the 1st place achieving candidates from each level were awarded with a laptop while the 2nd and 3rd placed candidates each received an iPad as recognition for their hard work. The regions were also awarded based on their overall performance, public and private school as well best teachers in English and Mathematics at Ordinary level received N$ 10 000 each.
The best performing regions in the English 2nd language, Mathematics, Agricultural science, Biology, Chemistry and Physics each were awarded with a prize N$12 000, while the best performing school principal receive N$ 2000.
